Essilor Sight Center opens at CEU

(L-R) CEU School of Optometry dean Dr. Elena Borromeo, CEU president & chief academic officer Dr. Ma. Cristina Padolina, Essilor AMERA & Digital president Bernhard Neusser, ASEAN & Korea president Kathy Park, and Philippines general manager Dr. Emelita Roleda.

Essilor,  #1 in spectacle lenses worldwide, has launched the  Essilor Sight Center at the Centro Escolar University in Manila. The center is a training facility with the latest eye care equipment for the use of the university’s Optometry students.

Located at the 2nd floor of CEU’s School of Optometry, the Essilor Sight Center features  four refraction rooms, a lecture area, and a dispensing area. These are designed to  give students a hands-on experience in doing eye  exams and dispensing eye glasses to patients, with equipment that include Essilor advanced measuring devices for Presbyopia among many others.

“We are very grateful to Essilor for partnering with CEU. Thousands of students will be trained at one of the most advanced facilities to be established in a university,” said CEU School of Optometry dean Dr. Elena Borromeo.

Top executives of Essilor flew in to grace the inauguration. Essilor AMERA & Digital president Bernhard Neusser and Essilor ASEAN & KOREA president Kathy Park joined the inauguration rites together with Essilor Philippines general manager Dr. Emelita Roleda.

According to Neusser, the collaboration is in line with Essilor’s global thrust to support the training of future eye doctors. “With poor eyesight being the major handicap worldwide, our mission is to improve lives by improving sight. To provide good vision, we need optometrists and this partnership with CEU will make that possible.

At present, the growing cases of vision-related problems demand for  capable eye care professionals. “CEU and Essilor share the same vision of developing the best optometrists with hands-on training and the best quality of equipment. Through this collaboration, we can shape the future together,” said Essilor ASEAN general manager  Kathy Park.

Finally, Dr. Borromeo emphasized the importance of the partnership between Essilor and CEU. “This opportunity will enable us to improve our services by allowing our students to utilize the instruments they will use in the future.”
